Students from universities across Ontario joined Prof. Cooke, Dr. Connie O’Connor (McMaster) and Cooke lab members for a two week field course at Queen’s University Biological Station on Lake Opinicon. The course was run through the Ontario Universities Program in Field Biology (OUFPB) which allows students from any Ontario University to attend field courses regardless of the institution it is based out of. Over the duration of the course, students received hands on experience in using field techniques, conducted research experiments, and delivered seminars on wide-ranging topics pertaining to fish and fisheries. By the end of the course, the students were ‘hooked’ on fish!
