Class presentations on the physiology of Pacific salmon in New Denver, BC

On December 11, Melissa Dick visited Lucerne Elementary Secondary School in New Denver, BC, to do presentations on the physiology of Pacific salmon. She worked with the grade 7/8 and 9/10 classes to dissect two adult salmon spawners. They identified the different organs and discussed their functions. The students recently took water samples from a nearby creek for which there are future plans for restoration with the eventual goal of having a spawning area for Kokanee salmon.
