COOKE LAB PRESENTS AT SALMON WORKSHOP IN BC

On Thursday February 6th, several Cooke Lab members took part in a salmon workshop in Vancouver, which is hosted each year by collaborator Scott Hinch and his lab at UBC.

The annual meeting is a chance for students and post-docs in the Hinch and Cooke labs to showcase their most recent work on Pacific salmon, so that resource managers and stakeholders are aware of the most recent science. The meeting also provides an opportunity for the research group to receive feedback and direction.

Jacqueline Chapman, Vivian Nguyen, Nich Burnett, Graham Raby, and Dr. Cooke each represented our lab at the meeting, with the latter three giving presentations to the group. The workshop was well attended, with approximately 60 participants – mostly from DFO, NGOs, and other stakeholder groups including First Nations and commercial fishers.
